Barry Ferguson rages at Rangers fan after Hamza Igamane disagreement

Hamza Igamane has been in the headlines for Rangers after Russell Martin was unable to count on him against St Mirren on Sunday.

While the Gers drew against Stephen Robinson’s team at the SMiSA Stadium on 24 August, marking their worst start to a league campaign in 36 years, it was the Morocco international who dominated the talking points post-match.

Martin revealed that Igamane refused to come on as a substitute against the Saints when he turned to the 22-year-old at around the hour mark due to an apparent injury.

The Scottish manager seemed to hint otherwise, but speculation has surrounded the centre-forward since the 1-1 draw.

Barry Ferguson slams fans for claiming Hamza Igamane not injured at Rangers

When one Gers fan claimed Igamane faked his injury against St Mirren, Barry Ferguson slammed those suggestions.

The supporter accused the Light Blues’ ex-interim manager of bluffing regarding the Moroccan youngster’s antics on the bench in Paisley, which he didn’t take too kindly.

Ferguson wanted to see how the striker’s assessment at Ibrox would go before passing judgment, as he raged at the fan, demanding proof for the statement.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 25 August, one supporter said: “Barry, stop trying to bluff people. The thing we all know is [Igamane] is not injured.”

Ferguson responded: “How do you know that? What are you talking about bluffing? How do you know that? How do you know he’s not injured? We don’t know how it operated on the bench. That’s all I’m saying.”

Hamza Igamane has let Russell Martin down

Igamane wasn’t seen training at Auchenhowie on 26 August, with the Gers concluding there were no signs of injury.

It looks like the writing is on the wall for the Morocco international after seemingly feigning his fitness issue at the SMiSA Stadium.

LOSC Lille have resumed talks to sign Igamane from the Glaswegian outfit, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave before 1 September.

Martin has several other headaches at Rangers and can’t waste any more time on the young centre-forward at Ibrox.

While beating Club Brugge in the second leg of the Champions League play-off away from home will be a tall order, the Gers must absolutely get the three points against Celtic before the international break.

Ferguson was right to want to trust Igamane, but the striker has arguably let everyone down with his actions.
