It’s become clear what Russell Martin must do with Rangers star Hamza Igamane after St Mirren
Rangers fans may not have seen the likes of Hamza Igamane since the days of Alfredo Morelos.
As the 22-year-old’s teammates were a goal down at the SMISA, he refused to come on as a substitute, claiming to have picked up a slight knock during warm-up.
Russell Martin didn’t seem convinced by Igamane’s answer post-match in Paisley on 24 August, suggesting the youngster was unwilling to feature.
Findlay Curtis eventually saved the day against St Mirren, scoring in the 78th minute moments after coming on in place of Joe Rothwell, securing a 1-1 draw for the Glaswegian outfit.

Hamza Igamane should be banished to Rangers reserve squad
Igamane’s antics have led to several fans calling for his departure from the Gers before the end of August, and rightfully so.
The Moroccan ace undoubtedly made a mockery of the travelling fans who were behind their team throughout the fixture in Paisley.
There’s no reason for the youngster to have such an attitude at the Light Blues, having achieved absolutely nothing at Ibrox.
- Igamane was signed from AS FAR for £1.7million.
- Cyriel Dessers lost his place in the starting lineup to the 22-year-old last season.
- The young centre-forward scored 11 league goals in the previous campaign.
While LOSC Lille have expressed an interest in Igamane, unless the Glaswegian outfit’s demands are met, the centre-forward is obliged to respect his contract that runs until 2029.
The Gers have every right to send the Morocco international to train with the youngsters and banish him from the first-team setup unless he apologises for his behaviour.
Unless the striker had actually picked up a knock during warm-up, there’s no excuse, as he left his teammates and Martin out to dry.

Bojan Miovski to replace Hamza Igamane at Ibrox
Girona forward Bojan Miovski is being eyed by the Gers as the Spanish outfit look to sell him just a year after spending a club-record £6.8million.
Record Sport has revealed that the North Macedonia international wants to leave the LaLiga club permanently this summer, and a loan with an obligation to buy from Rangers has been suggested.
The Glaswegian outfit may have an opportunity to make a hefty profit on Igamane before Deadline Day, and should certainly accept a suitable offer if it arrives in G51.
It looks like the young striker may have burned some bridges at Ibrox, which is a shame considering his inherent potential.
