Hamza Igamane fine immediately called for after ‘diabolical’ Rangers incident

Russell Martin was left red-faced yet again as Rangers failed to beat St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

Thelo Asgaard started as the sole striker for Rangers, with Hamza Igamane and Danilo as forward options on the bench.

Derek Ferguson wants Igamane gone as soon as possible, given how long his proposed exit from Ibrox has taken.

Now, Ally McCoist believes that the 22-year-old should be fined if the rumours about the Moroccan are true after the 1-1 draw in Paisley.

Ally McCoist suggests Hamza Igamane action after Rangers reveal

Rangers rejected a verbal offer from Lille for Igamane, meaning he will remain at Ibrox for the time being.

However, with the transfer window closing on 1 September, it would be in the Bears’ best interests to sanction an exit after the latest developments.

The forward started on the bench against St Mirren alongside Danilo, with no recognised striker in Martin’s starting lineup.

However, Martin tried to bring Igamane on 60 minutes, only for the Moroccan to tell him that he was injured.

The 39-year-old essentially suggested that the player did not want to feature, stating that a lot of players have one eye on an exit.

Now, McCoist, appearing on talkSPORT alongside Jeff Stelling on 25 August, has addressed what Martin said.

He said: “It’s a tough one, right, because we’ve all got an opinion on it, but effectively we don’t know, right.

“If he says he’s injured himself in the warm-up, there’s not a lot you can do about it, right? I find it very, very strange at that particular time.

“But I’m talking to you as a man who has effectively injured himself in a warm-up of a cup final and had to pull out, so it can happen, right, it can happen, but there’s just something not right about it.

“If he’s not injured, you fine him as much as you possibly can, and they’re in a position now, and I don’t want to contradict myself regarding the Isak situation, but it’s appalling if he is fit to play and he said no, I’m injured, I’m not going on.

“Then that’s diabolical to tell you the truth, absolutely diabolical, but it’s a very difficult thing to prove.”

Rangers must move Hamza Igamane on to avoid further embarrassment

When it rains, it pours, and the last thing Martin will want is to deal with these types of issues at Ibrox.

The 39-year-old must focus on improving performance and should not have to deal with potential player revolts.

Given that forward has been linked with an exit all summer, it is somewhat baffling that he is still a Rangers player.

Yes, the Gers must get a suitable fee for the 22-year-old, but the situation is now taking control at Ibrox.

With the transfer deadline creeping ever closer, Rangers simply must move Igamane on or risk more problems.
