Rangers will be privately thrilled with Brendan Rodgers news emerging out of Celtic
Rangers could be set to land a boost in their yearly battle against Celtic.
The Gers have had far from a dream start under Russell Martin after picking up just two points from their opening two Scottish Premiership outings.
Things haven’t necessarily been better in European competition, with Rangers falling to defeat against Club Brugge last time out at Ibrox.
This has left the likes of Gary Keown concerned over Martin, describing him as “dead meat” after the frustrating defeat against the Belgians.
With that being said, the Englishman could be set for a much-needed boost in Govan after the future of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic was called into question.

Brendan Rodgers could soon leave Celtic
It has been the biggest complaint of the Light Blues faithful for years that they have come nowhere near their Old Firm rivals in terms of success.
If it wasn’t for one season under Steven Gerrard, the Hoops would have won each of the last 14 Scottish Premiership titles.
Team | Scottish Premiership title wins |
Celtic | 2024/25, 2023/24, 2022/23, 2021/22, 2019/20, 2018/19, 2016/17, 2015/16, 2014/15, 2013/14, 2012/13, 2011/12 |
Rangers | 2020/21 |
This has ultimately resulted in widespread frustration in G51, something which fans hoped would change after Andrew Cavenagh, Paraag Marathe and the 49ers came in.
It doesn’t appear, right now at least, that this season is going to be the one where the league title makes it way to Ibrox, but that could be set to change.
This comes after Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon (24 August) that Rodgers is at the top of the wanted list at Nottingham Forest, should they sack Nuno Espirito Santo.
Evangelos Marinakis, Forest owner, hugely admires the Northern Irishman and could bring him to the East Midlands as his contract ticks down into his final year at Parkhead.
This could prove to be the perfect storm for the Gers to charge towards the Scottish Premiership this season or in the near future at least.

Rangers must take advantage of Celtic’s frailties
The Light Blues have been in desperate need of a break for many years, and they could be set to land that in the coming weeks of the season.
This has been needed ever since Rodgers came in for his first spell as head coach before eventually being replaced by Ange Postecoglou, who then departed, and Rodgers returned.
Both head coaches have had an excellent time of it at Celtic Park and left everyone associated with the Light Blues a difficult time watching their side.
As a result, Martin and Co. must take advantage of any weakness and make their move to rise up the Scottish Premiership.
If the Celtic boss is to make the move to Nottingham Forest, amid protests against the board, Rangers need to be on standby, show consistency and push for the league title this campaign.
