Ben Davies will never play for Rangers again as new loan transfer now announced
Rangers have announced that Ben Davies has joined Oxford United on a season-long loan, and he has departed Ibrox again.
Davies spent last season on loan at Birmingham City in League One, and he has now returned to England again to join Championship side Oxford.
The centre-back joined Rangers from Liverpool in 2022 as an experienced player, but the 30-year-old failed to impress at Ibrox in two seasons before departing on loan.
The centre-back performed well in League One with Birmingham alongside Kieran Dowell, but neither did well to endear themselves to the Rangers fanbase.
While Dowell has felt the wrath of the Ibrox crowd, Davies appears to have departed for good.

Ben Davies’ Rangers career is over
Davies’ move to Oxford United is a loan only in name, and the reality is that his Rangers career is fully over.
As reported by Chris Jack from The Rangers Review, Davies only had one year left on his contract heading into this summer, and there is absolutely no sign of an extension in sight.
- Davies made 58 appearances for Rangers across two seasons.
- The centre-back was unimpressive, and spent most of his second campaign as an unused substitute.
This means that while the move to Oxford is a loan deal, Davies will depart for free at the end of the season anyway.
“Davies was informed at the start of the summer that he would have no part to play at Ibrox this term following the arrival of Russell Martin as head coach,” Jack claimed.
“The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has now played his last game for Rangers.”

Rangers make yet another loss on flop transfer
Davies joined Rangers for an initial fee of around £3million, and after two loan spells away, he will leave at the end of his four-year contract for free.
It is yet another example of poor business from Rangers, as a big loss is made on a fairly substantial signing, and Davies will certainly not go down as a successful bit of recruitment.
The defender arrived as a 27-year-old heading into his prime years with experience in the Championship, but failed to prove he was at the level to succeed at Ibrox.
The Gers did not learn their lesson, as they tried to sign an experienced centre-back in Robbin Propper last season, but they parted ways after just one disastrous year at Rangers.
