Nicolas Raskin leads emotional messages as Rangers finalise multi-million sale

Nicolas Raskin has been one of the leaders since moving to Rangers from Standard Liege in 2023.

The midfielder has gone from strength to strength at Ibrox and has become a mainstay in the Belgium squad since his first call-up in March.

Raskin has been linked with a Rangers exit this summer, but is still in Glasgow and an important part of Russell Martin’s first-team squad.

Nicolas Raskin and Danilo send farewell messages to Jefte

It has been a busy summer at Gers with a number of incomings and outgoings over the past few months.

The biggest sale of the summer has been Jefte’s as the left-back left Rangers to join Palmeiras for a £6.5million fee.

This was a profitable deal for the Ibrox outfit as they signed the left-back for just £600,000 last summer.

The 21-year-old was a popular figure inside the dressing room and his exit saw Raskin and Danilo send him farewell messages

Danilo wrote on his Instagram story: “God bless you, my partner, in this new journey that you can be very happy. It was a pleasure to be with you and to meet your family, too.”

Raskin also sent him a heartfelt farewell, as he commented: “Thank you my brother. I love you.”

Rangers’ new owners have work left to do this summer

Selling Jefte for £6.5million, after the previous Rangers board signed him for just £600,000 last summer, stands out as one of the few shrewd moves by Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers consortium since their takeover.

This hefty profit highlights a rare financial success amid a challenging transition, with the Brazilian left-back moving to Palmeiras.

However, with less than two weeks until the transfer deadline, the consortium faces mounting pressure to reinvest wisely at Ibrox.

Their £20million commitment and new managerial setup under Cavenagh’s leadership must now deliver quality signings to bolster Martin’s squad.

Rangers’ league ambitions hinge on strengthening key areas, as a number of new arrivals have done very little to prove they are the right fits.

Failure to act decisively could undermine their title challenge, making this transfer window a critical test of the 49ers’ vision to elevate the Glasgow outfit to their former glory.
