‘Amazing…’ – Graham Spiers cannot believe what Russell Martin actually just said about Rangers
Russell Martin is finding himself under mounting pressure after Rangers were thumped in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Rangers were beaten 3-1 by Club Brugge at Ibrox, with the visitors enjoying a three-goal lead after just 20 minutes of action in the final play-off round.
The Gers did fight back and can feel hard done by to some extent, after former referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Ibrox News that Djeidi Gassama’s late goal should have been allowed to stand.
Rangers will now be under huge pressure to deliver results in their next games, with some fans already calling for Martin to be sacked.

Graham Spiers startled by bizarre Russell Martin comments
Club Brugge’s opening goal on the night rather summed up the start to Martin’s Rangers reign so far.
In just the third minute, a ball was played over the top, and Nasser Djiga appeared to stop running, assuming Jack Butland would be there to intercept.
The goalkeeper was not, and was duly chipped by Romeo Vermant, whilst he stood on the edge of his box with a look of disbelief across his face.
The second goal was not much better, with Jorne Spileers given the freedom of Ibrox to meet a well-taken corner on the volley and find the bottom corner.

Whilst Brandon Mechele’s stunning goal was more about the finish than the defending, that did not do much to distract from the abysmal display Rangers had given to the home fans.
They fought back in the second half, finding a goal through Danilo, but the damage had already been done.
Martin spoke to the media following the game and chose to take the positives: “I think that goal changes everything, I think it’s a really precarious position.”
Graham Spiers took exception to the comments and actually couldn’t believe them.
Writing on X, he replied: “Russell Martin actually stated that ‘this is a precarious result for Brugge’ – they beat Rangers 3-1 at Ibrox – and that there were ‘a lot of positives’ to take from last night’s game.
“Amazing stuff.”
Russell Martin must try something new vs St.Mirren
Rangers have also got off to a poor start in the Scottish Premiership, drawing their opening two fixtures.
But Saturday 24 August will bring a new opportunity for Martin to change minds, with the Gers due to face St. Mirren, with nothing but three points acceptable.
Hamza Igamane may well be ready to start up front, whilst fans will hope to see starts handed to Mikey Moore and Thelo Aasgaard, who came off the bench on Tuesday.
Something needs to change, or Martin will be packing his bags very shortly.
