How much Rangers could bank from Ridvan Yilmaz sale as exit ‘expected shortly’

Ridvan Yilmaz looks set to end his Rangers career this transfer window.

The Turkiye international has struggled to fulfil his potential at the Gers and could be on his way back to a familiar environment.

Besiktas want Yilmaz to return to Istanbul, and the defender is also desperate to complete his exit from the Gers in the coming weeks.

With Jefte on his way to Palmeiras, the Glaswegian outfit are also negotiating the 24-year-old’s sale in G51 as they look to generate funds after spending a significant sum for Russell Martin.

Rangers want £3.4m to £4.3m for Yilmaz transfer

Yilmaz is valued between £3.4million and £4.3m by the Gers amid interest from Besiktas, according to Fanatik.

The news outlet reported on 19 August that the Super Lig outfit have intensified negotiations with the Light Blues to sign the left-back from Ibrox.

It’s been claimed that while the Glaswegian outfit have set their price tag for the defender’s exit, the Turkish club aim to finalise a deal for a lower fee.

Yilmaz’s return to Istanbul is “expected to be complete shortly”, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bears bank around £3m in the end.

Martin should ask for more defenders at Ibrox

Yilmaz seems to be in demand at Ibrox, with his situation being monitored by other clubs apart from Besiktas.

The 24-year-old seems to be out of Martin’s plans this season, and it makes sense for him to look for pastures new.

With Jefte and the Turkish national on their way out, the Gers have signed Jayden Meghoma on loan from Brentford to bolster their backline.

Rangers may need to further reinforce their defence before the end of August as they evidently lack quality options.

Nasser Djiga, John Souttar and Emmanuel Fernandez are the three centre-backs the Scottish manager is seemingly relying on for the 2025/26 campaign, with Ben Davies, Clinton Nsiala and Leon King supposedly out of the picture.

The full-back situation also seems tenuous, with Max Aarons and James Tavernier the preferred options.

Only time will tell which fresh faces will make their way to G51.
