Rangers ‘play risky game’ as response given to Lille offer for Hamza Igamane

Hamza Igamane’s future at Rangers remains unclear ahead of the final weeks of the window.

Rangers have had a horrid start to the SPFL season, with the pressure already piling on Russell Martin just months after he was appointed.

A lot of those concerns have emerged as a result of their lack of clinical nature up front, with Igamane yet to feature for the Light Blues this season.

Lille have been linked with a move for the Rangers star all summer, with a new response provided to a bid submitted by the Ligue 1 outfit.

Lille see verbal offer dismissed by Rangers for Igamane

Igamane is clearly a priority for Lille, and according to Sacha Tavolieri via X on 18 August, Rangers have been in negotiations over his exit.

The French side are said to have submitted a verbal offer for Igamane, which has since been dismissed by the Gers, with the price deemed as insufficient.

For his part, Igamane is said to have given his green light for a move to Lille.

Igamane’s stats (2024/25)

Igamane has already made it clear that he wants the transfer, and with Rangers yet to agree on the fee, they are taking a huge risk.

The money from his sale would be massive and would go a long way towards rectifying the growing concerns in Martin’s squad.

By deliberating over a fee, Rangers are risking Igamane returning to Ibrox rather unhappily, while also missing out on useful finances.

Martin does not need another concern to linger over his tenure

Things are already concerning at Ibrox, and the lack of clarity over the future of Igamane will do nothing but cause another headache for Martin.

He’s an excellent forward, but there would be serious doubts about whether he could return to Rangers at his best after a summer full of exit speculation.

With Cyriel Dessers frustrating at Rangers once again, the Gers are in need of another striker to score the goals, and this situation is preventing them from achieving that.

Time is running out for a resolution, showcasing the need for the Light Blues to make a decision.
