Jamie Vardy desperate for move to Scotland – but there’s one big Rangers twist
Rangers have been on a summer signing spree, but more players will be targeted before the transfer window closes.
It’s believed that Russell Martin remains keen on signing a striker, with Jamie Vardy one of the names linked with a move to Ibrox this summer.
Vardy has been tipped to run riot if he does move to Scotland, although there has been no word of Rangers progressing on their interest in the former Leicester forward.
If they want to make a move for him, they may now have to act fast, as reports suggest that other clubs are ready to offer him a contract – including one particularly close to home.

Celtic preparing to make move for Jamie Vardy
It’s being suggested that Celtic are preparing to swoop in and sign Vardy instead.
The Scottish Sun reported on 18 August that Brendan Rogers is considering offering the 38-year-old a contract because he doesn’t fully trust his existing line-up of strikers.
Rogers managed Vardy at Leicester and will know how to get the best out of the veteran frontman. The existing relationship between the pair could be enough to tempt Vardy to Celtic Park.
However, if there’s one saving grace for Rangers, it’s that Rogers is believed to be monitoring other younger forwards. As such, a swoop for Vardy may only be considered as a last resort.
The report adds that Vardy, for his part, is desperate for a move to Scotland to play for Celtic.

Celtic interest may act as catalyst for Rangers to offer Vardy contract
A lot of Rangers fans are excited about the prospect of signing Vardy, and that should be no surprise considering his scoring record.
He may be 38 now, but he still boasts:
- Elite movement and pace
- A relentless work rate
- A clinical eye for goal
He scored 10 goals for a woeful Leicester team that got relegated last year. Playing against Scottish Premiership defences for Rangers or Celtic, he could easily be expected to double that tally.
Of course, there are downsides when signing a 38-year-old. It’s hardly a long-term option, and there are risks regarding Vardy’s fitness.
But, since he’s available on a free transfer and will surely be willing to accept a one-year contract, the risks are surely worth the potential reward.
Martin should move for Vardy now or he’ll risk witnessing one of his targets banging in goals for Celtic instead.
