Rangers ‘face tough call’ as midfielder now wanted as Lennon Miller replacement
Rangers are looking to trim down their squad as their huge summer spending spree has left Russell Martin with a bloated dressing room.
The Light Blues have already sold Robin Propper to FC Twente and are on the verge of allowing Jefte to join Palmeiras.
The likes of Jose Cifuentes and Rabbi Matondo could be next out the door if Rangers are to have their way.
However, a transfer rumour surrounding one of Rangers’ youth players could give the club’s hierarchy a tough call to make.

Motherwell want Bailey Rice on season-long loan
Bailey Rice enjoyed a breakthrough season with Rangers in 2024-25, making 10 appearances for the club.
However, the Daily Record reports (15 August) that Motherwell are interested in taking the 18-year-old on loan for the season.
As The Well prepare their loan offer, Martin will have to decide how often he’s likely to involve Rice this season.
The midfield star was brought up in Motherwell’s youth academy before making the move to Ibrox in 2022.
A temporary move back to Fir Park could be beneficial for all parties, as the teenager is likely to develop with more first-team experience.
Motherwell will hope that Rice can fill the gap in their midfield left after they sold Lennon Miller to Udinese for a club-record fee.
Either way, it is certainly a tough call for the Gers board to make.

Martin unlikely to rely on youth stars as pressure mounts at Rangers
Martin is in the unfortunate position of already being criticised by fans and the media.
He was only appointed by Rangers this summer, but some pundits are already questioning his decisions and the performances of his side.
That’s what happens when you drop points against Motherwell and Dundee in your opening two league games.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t create the ideal environment to throw youth academy stars into the deep end.

It’s not easy for inexperienced youngsters to play to their potential when the crowd is seemingly one mistake away from turning on the manager. Many experienced professionals struggle in this scenario as well.
For this reason, it might be better for all parties if Rice leaves Ibrox on loan for the season. He’ll get more opportunities to play at a club like Motherwell, and this experience will benefit his career as a whole.
