Jack Butland reacts as respected team-mate leaves Rangers permanently
Jack Butland has been in phenomenal form as Rangers have begun their first campaign under Russell Martin in a rather mixed manner.
Rangers‘ domestic form has come under justified criticism, while they have simultaneously got the job done so far in the Champions League qualifying fixtures.
One constant so far this season is Butland and his spectacular performances that have earned the shot stopper praise from the likes of Ally McCoist.
Butland initially faced uncertainty regarding his future at Ibrox this summer, but that looks to be put to bed as the 32-year-old bids farewell to another Gers teammate.

Robbie Fraser joins Dunfermline Athletic from Rangers
Whilst certain academy prospects like Findlay Curtis have impressed so far and look set to have a promising future in G51, this is not the case for every one of the Light Blues’ youngsters.
In a post on their Instagram account on 15 August, Rangers confirmed that Fraser would be signing for Championship outfit Dunfermline Athletic on a permanent deal.
The club wished Fraser well for the future as the two parties parted amicably.
Butland, along with former Gers player Leon Balogun, reacted by leaving a like on the post confirming the left-back’s departure.
- Balogun made 20 appearances in the Scottish Premiership last campaign before joining Aris Limassol earlier in the summer
Rangers supporters concerned with Fraser exit news
It’s fair to say that Fraser’s exit was largely met with disappointment from the supporters in the comments section, with many full of respect for the defender.
It’s never nice to see an academy player leave without being able to establish themselves in the first team, and the supporters made their feelings known.
- Some questioned what the point of the Gers academy is if the youngsters leave the club without getting a run of games in the starting XI
- Some are now anxious about the Light Blues’ depth at left-back
- Others felt like he should’ve been given a chance when considering new arrival Max Aarons’ shaky start to life in Scotland
The Ibrox faithful will be hoping Curtis does not follow a similar path in the years to come and that the teenage winger can be a part of the Rangers squad for the foreseeable future.
