Rangers ready to move on as Jefte exit terms agreed in London
Rangers now seem destined to part ways with Jefte.
Brazilian defender Jefte agreed terms with Palmeiras earlier this week, as Russell Martin has deemed him surplus to requirements.
Jefte leaving is not a deal all Rangers fans are sold on, since the 21-year-old has shown promise at times.
Even so, the transfer is moving even closer toward completion.

Jefte agree terms with Palmeiras as Jefte sale nears completion
Rangers representatives met up with Palmeiras officials in London on Thursday to finalise the terms of the transfer.
While the terms of this deal have not yet been made public, it’s thought that Rangers could demand around £5million for Jefte.
In a new update provided by UOL, it is suggested that a total agreement is now in place between Rangers and Palmeiras for the transfer to go through.
It means Rangers can finally bring an end to the saga and move on.
Jefte made 44 appearances for Rangers last season after signing from APOEL Nicosia, but Martin believes the club can do without him.
The defender was responsible for Viktoria Plzen’s opening goal in the Champions League qualifiers on Tuesday.

Rangers defence will have to improve if they are to progress in Europe
Rangers will take on Club Brugge in the Champions League playoff for the right to qualify for the competition’s group stage. The first leg is on Tuesday.
They have done well to get past Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen in the previous qualifying rounds, but the defence will need to improve for them to progress further.
Rangers took healthy leads from Ibrox into the away leg in both qualifying rounds so far. In these second legs, they were bombarded with attacks and just about squeezed through, but not due to heroic defending.
They’re through thanks to:
- Poor finishing from their opponents
- Impressive goalkeeping from Jack Butland
- Well-taken goals on the counter-attack
Club Brugge will surely not be so generous when it comes to missed chances. Rangers will have to keep possession better against the Belgian side and defend better without the ball.
Martin has decided that Jefte is not up to the task. Based on Jefte’s performance against Viktoria Plzen, a game in which he started, the manager’s probably right.
Rangers fans will hope he can settle on a back four capable of defending at a Champions League level soon.
