Rangers transfer round-up: Charles bid tabled as exit agreement reached

Rangers have brought in 10 new players already, but they are not expected to stop anytime soon.

Russell Martin‘s side have started the domestic campaign with two draws in the Scottish Premiership, and are already four points behind Celtic.

Serious work is needed as the transfer market slowly grinds to a conclusion, if they are to catch their Glasgow rivals before the end of the campaign.

Scout raves as Rangers set for Mendy deal

Nobel Mendy looks set to join Rangers in the coming days, and he is an exciting addition for Martin.

Scandinavian football scout Kai Watson, who works for Finnish club SJK Seinajoki, believes that the Real Betis ace will be a brilliant signing for the Gers.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News on 14 August, he said: “He’s quick and powerful both on and off the ball.

“Mendy has a really good range of passing and is capable of both breaking the lines and opening the game up with long switches of play.

“He’s strong in the air and reads the game well, but is inexperienced at the top level, given he spent most of his time in the Spanish third tier last season.

He did impressively in the Conference League Semi-Final against Fiorentina when he replaced Marc Bartra, but it will be interesting to see if he can sustain that level over a whole season.”

Rangers table Charles bid in new Sheffield Wednesday twist

Rangers launched a bid for Sheffield Wednesday’s Pierce Charles, but it was not successful.

Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath reported on 14 August that the Gers and West Ham had made bids in excess of £1million.

However, the crisis-ridden Championship club did not respond to the approaches, which could possibly help them to pay their players.

Charles camp baffled as Rangers bid fails

Charles’ camp are understood to be baffled after the Championship side did not accept either bid for the talented goalkeeper.

A report from The Independent on 14 August claims that Dejphon Chansiri’s decision not to sanction a sale has caused confusion.

It states that his value would help massively with the cashflow issues, so it is a mystery as to why the controversial owner will not sell Charles.
