How much money Rangers will save amid Jefte exit news
Jefte now looks set to leave Rangers this summer, just over a year after signing for the Ibrox club.
The left-back proved to be an important player in the 2024/25 campaign, making 52 appearances in all competitions.
However, Palmeiras have now reached a verbal agreement to sign Jefte.
While this may come as surprising news to many of the Ibrox faithful, it could save Rangers millions.

Rangers could save at least £6.16m from Jefte transfer
As it stands, it is unknown how much Russell Martin will make from the transfer fee for Jefte.
However, previous reports had indicated that Rangers could demand between £4.3million and £5.1m for Jefte.
On top of this, the Glaswegians should save a substantial amount in wages if the sale were to be completed.
According to Salary Sport on 14 August, Jefte currently earns £7,100-a-week, with his contract running until 2028.
- Jefte is reportedly among Rangers’ lowest earners
Therefore, the left-back is set to pocket another around £1.06m from the remainder of his deal.
This is without including potential bonuses and clauses in his contract.
If Rangers were to get £5.1m for Jefte, this, combined with his wages, could save Rangers at least £6.16m.

Should Rangers sell Jefte?
If Rangers were to go through with the sale, it would no doubt leave a big hole at the back.
A new left-back would have to be brought in, which could prove to be expensive at this stage in the window.
On top of this, Jefte proved to be great at defending at Rangers, producing great stats according to Fbref on 14 August.
Jefte at Rangers over the past year | Stats per 90 minutes |
Tackles | 2.06 |
Interceptions | 1.27 |
Blocks | 1.37 |
Clearances | 3.82 |
Expected assists | 0.04 |
Shot-creating actions | 1.57 |
Progressive carries | 2.16 |
However, his attacking output left much to be desired, and if Martin wants this improve, he will need a new star at left-back.
This makes a sale far more feasible, and the fee for Jefte could be used to find someone to suit the manager’s system.
