Graeme Souness shares what he’s heard within Rangers that should encourage every fan
Rangers have embarked on their first campaign under new management, and Graeme Souness is enjoying it so far.
A consortium led by 49ers Enterprises completed a takeover in the summer, and this new ownership group are aiming to bring glory back to Ibrox.
Rangers appointed Russell Martin to much criticism, but have realised that completing a rebuild will take some time.
Martin has now earned himself plaudits after an impressive Champions League victory over Viktoria Plzen, and Rangers legend Souness has now expressed his excitement at current proceedings.

Souness praises Rangers ownership
Souness has now heaped praise on the Rangers owners, and is of the belief that success under the American-led consortium is inevitable.
Via the Daily Mail (August 7), Souness revealed that he is “encouraged” by the start they have made at Rangers, and that there is a clear plan for success.
“I think the new guys have started well. The noises that have come out sound very professional and it’s as if they know what they’re doing,” he said.
“This is not a case of ‘Will they get it right?’ This is a case of ‘when they get it right. This is not their first dip into soccer.

“Like in any new business, they will have made some mistakes down in England with Leeds United. I expect them to hit the ground running to a certain point.
“From what I’m hearing from within the club, and how it comes out publicly, I’m very much encouraged. It would appear, from the outside looking in, it’s settled down.
“People know what roles they’ve got within the organisation. And I think there’s a clear path that’s being led from the top. I think everyone now knows their job and they can get on with it.”

Rangers rebuild making progress
The owners are undertaking a rebuild of Rangers at several different levels, and it was never going to immediately click overnight, but there are promising signs of progress.
Nine new transfers have joined the playing squad so far, with more to follow, while Kevin Thelwell is now operating as the new sporting director.
The new owners did receive backlash for appointing Martin, but it is hoped that the manager can win over the fanbase after a tough start.
Martin’s decision to make significant changes to his lineup for the Viktoria Plzen clash went down well, and many are now seeing the progress Rangers are set to make in the coming seasons.
