Rangers v Viktoria Plzen: Kick-off time and where to watch after late TV change

Rangers turn their attention back to Europe after beginning their Scottish Premiership campaign over the weekend.

Following the high from the victory across two legs against Panathinaikos, Russell Martin came crashing back down to earth when his side drew 1-1 away against Motherwell on Saturday (2 August).

Martin was criticised following the draw, but now has a chance to make things right when his Gers side take on Viktoria Plzen at Ibrox in the next round of qualifying for the Champions League.

Rangers v Viktoria Plzen kick-off time

Rangers will kick off at Ibrox against Viktoria Plzen at 7:45pm on Tuesday (5 August), with Martin’s side needing to make the most of the home leg.

Martin’s tactics in Europe have previously been criticised, with his team being labelled as wide open and being defensively irresponsible.

The Gers boss will want to nip this in the bud early into his tenure, as the heroics produced by Jack Butland so far in goal this season are not sustainable throughout an entire campaign.

Djeidi Gassama and Findlay Curtis are both expected to start out wide for the Light Blues, with both wingers getting themselves on the scoresheet in the previous European tie against Panathinaikos at Ibrox.

Where to watch Rangers v Viktoria Plzen

It a late announcement, the game will now be broadcast live and free by the BBC, with coverage starting 15 minutes before the first whistle.

Supporters will be able to watch the game on the BBC Scotland channel after the broadcaster announced they have stepped in at the last minute to secure the rights to the game that initially looked set not to be on TV.

This is no longer the case, and if the Light Blues can get past Viktoria Plzen over two legs, they will face either RB Salzburg or Club Brugge in the play-off.

Defeat for Rangers against the Czech outfit, however, would see them slide down into the Europa League.
