Rangers hold Ridvan Yilmaz transfer talks as agent speaks out
Ridvan Yilmaz is one of the candidates to leave Rangers in the final month of this summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old seems surplus to requirements at the Gers, with Russell Martin excluding him from the recent UEFA Champions League squads.
Yilmaz’s squad number has also been given to Max Aarons, suggesting the Light Blues are preparing for his departure before the end of August.
Besiktas have made a bid at Ibrox for the Turkey international’s return, but with the Glaswegian outfit looking for a figure below £3.4million, there still seems to be some work to do before finalising an exit.

Yilmaz agreement yet to be found with Rangers
Besiktas and the Gers have a difference in valuation regarding Yilmaz’s sale, Necdet Ergezen says.
The left-back’s agent claims that while the Super Lig outfit have held a meeting with the Light Blues, no solution has been found for the defender at Ibrox.
Ergezen disclosed that the Glaswegian outfit’s demands are more than the offers on the table, and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold.
Speaking to the media, as relayed by Yeni Acik journalist Ertan Suzgun on X (4 August), the Turkish national’s representative said: “There was a meeting with Besiktas, but so far nothing has been finalised. There is a price difference between the clubs’ demands and offers. We are waiting.”
Martin needs a replacement for Yilmaz
Kevin Thelwell is looking to offload Clinton Nsiala, Ben Davies, Robbie Fraser, Leon King, Jose Cifuentes and Rabbi Matondo this summer.
The full-back department will be a bit short on numbers after Yilmaz’s exit at Ibrox.
Aarons was supposed to compete with James Tavernier for a place in the starting lineup, but the Bournemouth loanee has been preferred on the left side of defence.
If Rangers can offload the players they want, there will arguably be a lack of depth in the backline.
Player | Age |
Tavernier | 33 |
Aarons | 25 |
Jefte | 21 |
Dujon Sterling | 25 |
Fraser | 22 |
Alexander Hutton | 19 |
While Jefte could be seen as a backup option to Aarons, Dujon Sterling is the other right-back in the squad apart from Tavernier.
The ex-Chelsea defender isn’t reliable, though, with consistent fitness issues affecting him last season.
Martin will need a replacement for Yilmaz once a deal with Besiktas materialises, but only time will tell whether the Gers will strengthen that department.
