Oliver Antman is already ‘worth double what Rangers paid’ after what he did v Viktoria Plzen

Rangers beat Viktoria Plzen 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League third round qualifiers on Tuesday.

Djeidi Gassama netted the opener at Ibrox before Cyriel Dessers scored from the penalty spot just before half-time.

This was followed up in the second period, with Gassama quickly netting with his head to double his tally and extend Rangers’ lead.

It was exactly the performance Russell Martin wanted after axing several players from the starting XI against Viktoria Plzen.

While many players stood out at Ibrox, it was Oliver Antman’s performance was the most eye-catching.

Antman stuns in Rangers debut v Viktoria Plzen

Coming in the starting XI after Martin’s rant after the Motherwell match, the pressure was on Antman to perform.

However, the winger shone at Ibrox and was crucial to the Gers’ eventual victory.

From the get-go, it was clear that the 23-year-old was up for the match.

The Finnish international dominated the wing and caused the Czech side all sorts of problems, despite only training with the Rangers first team for one day.

After playing a sensational role in the opener, Antman then won the penalty for the Gers to net their second.

Then, the winger followed this up with the best play of the night. Running down the right wing, Antman whipped in a perfect ball to Gassama, with the forward unable to miss.

This is by far one of the best debuts at Ibrox in a long time, with the winger completely dominating.

Rangers reportedly brought Antman for £4m from Go Ahead Eagles if all clauses are hit. However, his performance against Viktoria Plzen proved that he is clearly worth double, and Martin has another bargain on his hands.

Martin has found his front three

With Antman, Dessers and Gassama starting as Rangers’ attackers, the Gers looked like scoring almost every time they have attacked.

While Martin has done a lot of chopping and changing this summer, this front line has looked like Rangers’ most deadly by far.

Surely, the Scotsman has now found his front three going into the rest of the campaign.

With their combined threat, Rangers should score plenty this season and potentially win silverware.
