‘I’m pretty convinced’ – Celtic miss out as Rangers sign player who looks real deal
Djeidi Gassama has emerged as a player who could be really important for Rangers this season.
The winger, signed from Sheffield Wednesday this summer, hit a goal in both legs of the 3-1 Champions League qualifying victory against Panathinaikos.
Gassama has already shown highlights of his electric pace and keen eye for goal in his brief cameos for Rangers.
At 21 years old, he’s only likely to improve, so there’s every chance he could be a key figure at the club for years to come.
Rangers fans will already be delighted to have captured Gassama, especially if the rumours are true about the other team hoping to buy him.

Moore is ‘convinced’ Celtic had chance to buy Gassama as well
It’s hoped that Gassama will be able to lead Rangers on their mission to stop Celtic from claiming five Scottish Premiership titles in a row.
That would be some story if the Frenchman plays a key role in that achievement, as it’s believed that Celtic also had the chance to sign him.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, former Rangers defender Craig Moore suggested that Gassama’s agent would likely have offered his client to Celtic as well as Rangers.
He said: “I’m pretty sure any agent that’s producing players to one or the other is actually going to both the clubs anyway. Yeah, I’m pretty convinced of that.”
Celtic remain in the hunt for a new winger after selling Nicolas Kuhn to Como this summer.

Rangers still need to sign more attackers
Rangers paid £2.2million for Gassama, and that’s already beginning to look like a bargain.
However, it looks like Russell Martin will need to target some more attacking stars if his side are to stand a chance of competing with Celtic for the SPL title.
Martin has started Danilo up front in all three of Rangers’ competitive games this season, but he has offered little goal threat.
Date | Fixture | Performance |

30 July | Panathinaikos vs Rangers | 0 goals, subbed after 82 minutes |
2 August | Motherwell vs Rangers | 0 goals, subbed after 63 minutes |
The Ibrox side have Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane as options, but both have been linked with big-money moves from the club this summer.
Teenage striker Mikey Moore has signed from Tottenham on loan, but it seems unlikely that Martin will rely on a 17-year-old to carry his attack.
A move for Jamie Vardy is still viable, although Rangers face competition from Leeds and Wrexham for his signature.
Despite winning the race for Gassama, Rangers fans will be crying out for the club to sign a proven striker to support him in attack.
