Five more Rangers transfers possible after Martin realisation v Motherwell

Rangers have already completed a substantial amount of business in the transfer window, but more work is needed.

Four new signings were in the starting 11 as Russell Martin’s men threw away their lead to draw 1-1 with Motherwell.

Mikey Moore has joined Rangers on loan from Tottenham, but is unlikely to feature against Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday night.

However, as many as five more transfer additions are possible after Martin’s realisation against Motherwell.

Martin needs more signings at Rangers

Martin made a statement by defeating Panathinaikos over two legs to advance in the second round of Champions League qualifying.

Despite going behind in the second leg, the Gers showed resilience to pull one back and see out the potential banana skin.

As expected, Martin has been backed in the transfer window, with a host of new arrivals at Ibrox.

Nasser Djiga, Max Aarons, Joe Rothwell, and Djeidi Gassama all started against Motherwell, but the Bears struggled to control the game.

James Tavernier put the Ibrox side ahead in the early stages, but the home side threatened and recorded more shots after 90 minutes.

Rangers’ uncertainty came to fruition late on when Emmanuel Longelo equalised in the 87th minute.

Now, Cammy Bell has called for more signings to be made while appearing as a guest on talkSPORT (3 August, 7:54am).

Bell said: “I think [Martin’s] certainly had a few problems along the way already because I don’t think some of the players at Rangers are good enough to play that style of football yet, and that’s being perfectly honest, that it’s asking too much of some of them.

“Yes, he’s got a number of players in, he probably still needs four or five transfers in the door before the window closes.”

Who else could arrive at Ibrox this summer?

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi reportedly favours a move to Rangers, with negotiations underway between the Bears and Crystal Palace.

The Gers are said to be working on a loan deal for the winger, while it would cost upwards of £10million to prize him away from Selhurst Park.

Elsewhere, the Ibrox club are closing in on a deal for Oliver Antman, with the Light Blues to pay more than £5.2million plus add-ons for his services.

While news of more transfers is positive, Rangers supporters will want more after their recent display.
