Rangers player ratings v Motherwell: James Tavernier shines, 3/10 dud flops

Rangers failed to hold on to their lead and ended up conceding a late goal to share the spoils with Motherwell.

James Tavernier opened the scoring for the visitors, scoring from a corner, something that seldom happens for Gers.

However, Emmanuel Longelo scored late on for the hosts at Fir Park to make it 1-1 on Saturday evening.

As a result, Ibrox News has analysed the Rangers players’ performances as they secured the three points.

Tavernier puts in a classy performance for Rangers

It was a rare sight to see the right-back scoring from open play, but he did precisely that in the first half.

Even apart from the goal, the Englishman showed his quality and did not let Rangers down defensively.

He was tidy in possession, offered an attacking threat as and when needed and was also combative when called in to defend.

The 33-year-old made a couple of important clearances as well and was unfortunate to end up on the losing side.

Danilo falters in the final third

The striker crisis at Gers continues and it was another game to forget for Danilo.

The Brazilian has not justified his big-money transfer to the Ibrox outfit and this was another poor performance from him.

He struggled to stretch the defence, making darting attacking runs to take defenders out of position and was not a threat in the final third.

The 26-year-old lacked composure in front of goal, hitting the woodwork once and also having two of his shots blocked.

All in all, it was a forgettable game from him and it won’t be any surprise if Russell Martin drops him for the next one.
