Rangers sign ‘the next Neymar’ – Why latest recruit could be best yet at Ibrox

Russell Martin has had his Rangers squad bolstered this summer at Ibrox.

Rangers have one clear objective to reach this season: get back to competing with Celtic for domestic success.

The Light Blues have failed to do that since Steven Gerrard‘s departure several years ago, and Martin is the latest man in the dugout to be tasked with such a challenge.

However, with the progress made on the recruitment front, the Gers have given themselves an excellent chance of achieving that, and the latest addition may push them even further.

Mikey Moore could be a game-changer for Rangers

On Friday (1 August), it was announced that Rangers had completed the signing of Mikey Moore on a season-long loan from Tottenham, and it has the potential to be a massive addition.

The 17-year-old burst onto the scene under Ange Postecoglou last season and generally impressed whenever he was afforded the chance on the pitch.

More often than not, those chances emerged in the UEFA Europa League, and James Maddison even compared the teenager to former Barcelona star Neymar after an impressive display against AZ Alkmaar.

As quoted by The Standard back in October, Maddison said: “From minute 45 to 65, I thought we had Neymar on the left wing.

“He was brilliant. He demanded the ball. Fearless. That young, fearless mentality.”

How could Moore succeed at Rangers?

The mentality described by Maddison can only be a good thing.

Players of Moore‘s age have a serious point to prove, and there will be no better place to do that than at Rangers, where they have one to prove of their own.

If that fearless mentality is translated onto the pitch, Rangers will have a serious threat down that left flank, and it won’t be long until it starts to show.

While several of the other additions will improve the team, this one could take them to a whole new level and potentially push them closer back to the summit of Scottish football.
