49ers lure already pays off as Moore to Rangers transfer update drops

Rangers are not messing around in the transfer market as they close in on yet another signing.

The 49ers have added a wealth of new players to Russell Martin’s ranks as the Gers prepare to fight on all fronts this season.

Tottenham gem Mikey Moore emerged as a Rangers target despite being heavily linked with a move to Ryan Mason’s West Brom.

However, the left winger is now set to move north of the border after the latest transfer developments.

Rangers close in on Moore as transfer details emerge

Moore reportedly turned down a host of Championship clubs in favour of a move to Glasgow.

The 17-year-old is a highly regarded talent at Tottenham but has been a peripheral figure due to the strength of competition.

Last season, the teenager was given increased first-team exposure and made 22 appearances in all competitions.

However, Spurs are backing Thomas Frank in the market, meaning opportunities would be sparse next term.

Now, Rangers are optimistic to seal all the details of Moore’s loan deal this week, according to Fabrizio Romano (30 July).

He reports that there will be no buy option, just a straight loan until June 2026.

The Lilywhites are set to give a final green light soon, with the winger keen to join the Glasgow club’s project.

That final part is telling, with 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh’s ‘project’, as it is put, already paying off as some in-demand players are choosing Rangers over other alternatives.

Moore worth a gamble for the Gers

While Moore must be regarded as an unproven acquisition, this could be the move that ignites his career.

The 17-year-old has shown potential in North London, but regular first-team football is just what he needs.

Of course, that is no guarantee, given that Martin already has Djeidi Gassama and Oscar Cortes on the left wing.

However, if the Bears advance in the Champions League, then they will need a large squad to battle in all competitions.

With Moore nearing a move to Ibrox, there is reason to feel optimistic about his potential impact.
