Rangers book medical for ‘exciting’ new Moore signing as benefits emerge
Mikey Moore could be the next winger through the door at Rangers, as Russell Martin prioritises new attacking signings.
Grady Diangana and David Brooks were just a few of the names mentioned as possible new signings for next season at Ibrox.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has also emerged as another target on the wing for Martin, who looks set to be on the verge of adding Moore to his squad.
With Djeidi Gassama also joining the Light Blues this summer, Martin looks to have some interesting options on his hands ahead of the new Scottish Premiership campaign.
Moore medical scheduled for this week
Gassama and youngster Findlay Curtis have already got off to a good start for Martin, with both wingers scoring in Rangers’ 2-0 win over Panathinaikos in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier.
Moore will be looking to force his way into Martin’s side, with a loan deal for the Tottenham teenager set to be completed soon, it seems.
Writing on X (July 28), Paul Gilmour has reported that Moore’s medical at Rangers is scheduled for this week if all goes to plan.
The Light Blues seemingly had to fend off competition from multiple Championship clubs, with Birmingham, Charlton, West Brom and Coventry among those interested.
The mutually beneficial deal will see Martin add a talented player to his squad, whilst Moore will likely get the regular first-team minutes he is searching for on a big stage.
Moore arrival may stunt the growth of Curtis next season
Moore would likely not be signing for Rangers if there were not some sort of agreement for playing time already agreed upon with Martin.
At 17, Moore is regarded as the best prospect in Spurs’ academy, and whilst his arrival would be an exciting addition, it may stunt the growth of Curtis.
Martin has trusted Curtis in pre-season fixtures so far and even played him against Panathinaikos, where the 18-year-old repaid the manager’s faith in him with a stunning goal.
Although Curtis may not have the reputation of Moore, he is a Rangers player, and Martin investing his time in helping to develop one of his own may be more useful for the long-term future of the club, with Moore’s stint in Glasgow only being a temporary one.
If he can unlock both, Rangers may have struck gold.
