Rangers shock Celtic as Russell Martin raises stakes with Rak-Sakyi transfer

Celtic may feel the heat this transfer window as Rangers pursue a deal for Crystal Palace forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

The 22-year-old shone on loan at Sheffield United last season, and the Gers have now set their sights on his signing.

Rak-Sakyi is a concrete target at Ibrox, and the English winger is keen on a move to the Glaswegian outfit.

Palace are looking for a sale at Selhurst Park, with the Light Blues submitting a loan offer with a possible option of around £8million, which could potentially affect their Old Firm rivals.

Celtic feel first minor tremor as Martin confirms Rangers transfer interest in Rak-Sakyi

Celtic may have felt the “first minor tremor” as Russell Martin confirmed the Gers’ interest in Rak-Sakyi, Keith Jackson says.

The Daily Record journalist feels the Light Blues are raising the stakes on the Hoops as they intend to sign the English forward at Ibrox.

Jackson believes Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are showing a statement of intent, considering the figures involved in a potential deal for the Palace winger.

The journalist wrote in the Daily Record (28 July): “When Martin confirmed during a TV interview last week that he is indeed serious about pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace winger Rak-Sakyi, Celtic may have felt the first minor tremor.

“If Rangers are even considering entering into a loan deal for a player and taking on an obligation to buy Ray-Sakyi outright for a fee of around £8m, then it does indeed point to a significant raising of the stakes.

“The sheer size of the figures involved certainly suggests that, under Cavenagh and his friends from the San Francisco 49ers, Rangers will no longer be scrambling around down the back of the couch looking for some loose change whenever the transfer window opens up for business.”

Rak-Sakyi to be game-changing transfer for Martin at Ibrox

Rak-Sakyi could be a game-changing transfer at Ibrox this summer, with the forward catching the eyes of many with his performances last season.

The Gers seem desperate to bolster their attack before the end of August, and the 22-year-old would undoubtedly be an impressive addition to Martin’s front line.

Go Ahead Eagles winger Oliver Antman is another attacker the Light Blues have set their sights on in the ongoing transfer window.

Rangers have already bolstered their defence and midfield recently with some astute signings, and the focus now is rightly up front.

Djeidi Gassama had a dream debut for the Gers against Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifier on 22 July, scoring a brilliant goal in the 2-0 win.

Martin will certainly hope the Glaswegian outfit buys similar players in the coming weeks as he looks to compete with Celtic domestically this season.
