Rangers set to bank £1.7m after Ridvan Yilmaz transfer approval

Rangers could potentially soon generate funds if Ridvan Yilmaz leaves this summer transfer window.

The ex-Besiktas defender is angry at Ibrox after losing his number to Max Aarons and not being included in Russell Martin’s plans for the 2025/26 campaign.

Yilmaz could return to the Super Lig outfit in the coming days, with the Istanbul club looking to complete a bargain deal with the Gers.

The 24-year-old’s move to the Black and Whites looks set to be announced after approval regarding a possible deal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer green-lights Yilmaz transfer from Rangers

Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has green-lit the addition of Yilmaz from the Gers in the ongoing transfer window, according to Fanatik.

The news outlet reports (27 July) that the former Manchester United boss is convinced the left-back will contribute at the Turkish outfit after returning from Ibrox.

It’s been claimed that talks are taking place for the 24-year-old defender’s signing, with the Super Lig club aiming to pay around £1.7m for him.

Yilmaz’s exit feels like the best option for him after failing to make a mark at the Glaswegian outfit over the last three years.

Martin to trust Aarons as his left-back at Ibrox

Aarons struggled at left-back against Panathinaikos, but it seems like Martin has a specific plan for the Bournemouth loanee this season.

The 25-year-old defender was often seen in midfield as the Gers beat the Greek outfit 2-0 at home on 22 July.

It feels like the Scottish manager wants to play the Englishman as an inverted full-back, but he had a few moments to forget in the first leg of the Champions League qualifier after giving the ball away cheaply.

Rangers also have Jefte at their disposal on the left side of defence, and the Brazil national’s qualities were evident last season, with Chelsea expressing interest in him during the winter transfer window.

Yilmaz’s prospects of getting regular game time at the Gers under Martin in the ongoing campaign evidently look bleak, but a replacement may be needed after his departure.

The Light Blues struggled with several fitness issues in their backline last season and should think about reinforcements once Yilmaz leaves.
