Rangers finalise ‘Best move’ as transfer news emerges from Ibrox

Russell Martin is overseeing a busy window at Rangers with a lot of ins and outs.

After a disappointing 2024/25 campaign and new owners coming through the door a few months ago, it was always going to be an eventful summer at the club.

Gers have sealed a number of signings, but are also working hard to get certain players off the wage bill with decent transfer fees.

The Ibrox outfit took to X on 26 July to confirm the departure of Robin Propper, a year after he joined the club.

FC Twente, who sold the Dutchman to Gers, capitalised on his erratic first campaign and managed to sign him back for a lower fee, profiting off the deal.

Rangers had reached an agreement to sell Propper this week and the deal was officially announced on Saturday morning.

Despite playing over 40 games in all competitions last season, the centre-back struggled to nail down a starting berth and also had issues adapting to the physicality.

Rangers make the right call by selling Propper

Selling Propper to FC Twente was a prudent move for Rangers, as the 31-year-old centre-back struggled to adapt to the Scottish Premiership’s physicality and pace, failing to meet expectations.

His transfer fee provides funds to pursue a more suitable centre-back and that could now be the priority.

Reinvesting in a robust defender ensures defensive stability, while allocating resources to bolster the attack addresses the Ibrox outfit’s need for consistent goal-scoring.

This strategic overhaul aligns with Martin’s vision, enhancing the club’s competitiveness in the Premiership and Europe.

It remains to be seen how much more money there is to be spent and if more first-team players will be sold to raise those funds.
