Robin Propper medical in hours as Rangers defender ‘truly on his way’ out

Robin Propper could finally complete his exit from Rangers to FC Twente in the ongoing transfer window.

The Dutch defender struggled at the Gers in his debut season and has now been linked with a return to the Eredivisie outfit.

Propper’s exit from Ibrox has been on standby, with the centre-back looking for compensation from the Light Blues before leaving.

With the ex-Twente defender seemingly out of Russell Martin’s plans, it looks like the 31-year-old’s future may finally be resolved in the coming hours.

Rangers transfer on cards as Propper medical very likely in coming hours

Propper is truly on his way to Twente from the Gers this summer, according to Tijmen van Wissing.

The RTV Oost Sport journalist revealed on X (24 July) that the Dutch centre-back’s medical with the Eredivisie outfit is very likely on Friday (25 July).

Propper’s record at the Gers last season.

Martin has signed Emmanuel Fernandez and Nasser Djiga to bolster the backline recently, making the 31-year-old defender’s exit feasible.

It’s a shame to see Propper’s adventure at Ibrox hasn’t worked out, and a return to Twente feels like the right option for him at this stage.

Martin should push for Conor Coady transfer after Propper exit

Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady has emerged as a concrete target for the Gers in the ongoing transfer window.

The 32-year-old’s potential move to the Light Blues has been dragging on in recent weeks, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.

Djiga had an impressive debut against Panathinaikos at Ibrox on 22 July in the first leg of the Champions League qualifier as Martin got off to a winning start as the Glaswegian outfit’s manager.

Rangers have John Souttar and Fernandez at their disposal, with Dujon Sterling also capable of playing at centre-back.

Supporters will hope for more depth in defence after Propper’s exit as the Gers struggled due to fitness issues last season.

It would make sense to sign someone like Coady to add more depth and experience to the Light Blues’ backline, and the Ibrox faithful will certainly keep a close eye on further developments in G51.
