Rangers to return with improved Rak-Sakyi bid as Crystal Palace talks continue

Rangers are interested in Crystal Palace sensation Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and have now made an official approach to sign him.

Rak-Sakyi impressed on loan at Sheffield United last season, but with an uncertain future at Crystal Palace, he has now courted interest from several clubs.

Rangers are looking to add more attacking firepower, while also recruiting young but experienced talents, and the winger fits this profile perfectly.

The Gers have now made an approach to bring Rak-Sakyi to Ibrox, and their bid is a significant one as the pursuit is ongoing.

Rangers’ bid for Rak-Sakyi rejected

Russell Martin is keen to add more attacking quality to his squad, and things could progress quickly in the coming weeks.

David Ornstein has now reported via X (24 July) that Rangers have made an offer to sign Rak-Sakyi on loan with a potential obligation to buy worth up to £10million, which would make the forward one of the Gers’ most expensive signings in recent years.

However, the offer was rejected, although Rangers’ pursuit is ongoing with other clubs also showing an interest.

Rak-Sakyi’s record last season

The right winger made 36 appearances on loan at Sheffield United last season, scoring seven times, and is clearly valued highly, given the nature of the bid.

With interest from other clubs and their initial approach turned down, Rangers will need to make an improved offer, which appears likely as their pursuit continues.

Rak-Sakyi’s obligation to buy is a risk

Although he impressed with his speed on the wing last season, Rak-Sakyi dropped to the bench in the final weeks of the campaign and was absent from the squad as the Blades lost the Championship play-off final.

While a loan deal would be a fantastic move for Rangers, the obligation to buy is a huge risk at the current price, and with the Gers set to return with an improved offer, this may only increase.

Paying £10m for a player who failed to make an impact in the Premier League with Crystal Palace and who suffered from muscle injuries last season is a risk, but the size of the offer clearly means Rangers are convinced of his potential.

It may also mean that Rangers could be expecting a huge sale to boost their finances, with Hamza Igamane among those linked with an exit.
