Rangers players desperate as McAlister ready for Ibrox return – ‘Make it happen’

Rangers are set to continue their changes behind the scenes this summer.

The new majority owners, the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh, have already overseen a huge overhaul off the pitch.

Most importantly, Russell Martin was brought in as Philippe Clement’s permanent successor to manage the first team.

Another significant move was Kevin Thelwell‘s appointment as sporting director after his Everton departure, and there are set to be more moves made shortly.

Jim McAlister may be next in what would be a famous comeback.

McAlister ready for Rangers return after dismissal

McAlister joined the Ibrox outfit as kitman in 2021 under Steven Gerrard and worked under the late Jimmy Bell.

He took over as chief kitman after Bell’s passing, and his widow, Janice, was left disgusted with how Rangers had treated her husband’s successor.

He sued the Govan club, of which he is a lifelong supporter, for unfair dismissal and won the case after the Gers did not defend the claim.

However, he could be set to make a sensational return to the Auchenhowie outfit just two years after he was sacked.

Four Lads Had A Dream (23 July) have reported that he is ready to return to the Gers, and the move is backed by Martin, with them saying to “make it happen”.

It states that the players are “desperate” for it to happen, but the final decision rests with Patrick Stewart.

Rangers should bring McAlister back

The Gers have finally got rid of the behind-the-scenes chaos that plagued them before their American takeover.

McAlister is a lifelong supporter who knows the club, and his return would be a welcome one amongst everybody associated with the blue half of Glasgow.

The new ownership have gotten a lot of things right since they came into Ibrox, and bringing McAlister back would be another positive step in the right direction.

The 49ers and Co. are righting the wrongs of the previous custodians, one by one, and hopefully it will lead to success under Martin eventually.

If McAlister is a part of that success, it will be even sweeter after everything that he was subjected to from the team that he adores.
