Mason Munn set for Rangers exit as final decision made
Mason Munn is a highly-rated prospect who made his senior debut for Rangers last season.
The young goalkeeper joined Gers in 2022 from Glentoran and has impressed for the youth sides.
Donning the number 54, the 19-year-old made his debut for the first team at Ibrox in the 5-0 win over Fraserburgh in January.

Mason Munn set to join Dunfermline Athletic on loan
According to the Belfast Telegraph (23 July), the Northern Irish goalkeeper is set for a move to Scottish side Dunfermline Athletic.
The British club play in the second division and are managed by former Celtic player Neil Lennon.
Club | Appearances | Goals Conceded | Clean Sheets |
---|---|---|---|
Rangers B | 7 | 12 | 1 |
Rangers | 1 | – | 1 |
Rangers believe that Munn will benefit from first-team football, which is why they have sanctioned the deal.
Since moving to Glasgow, the 19-year-old has not been loaned out, so this will be his first real test as he aims to become the future number one for the Light Blues.
Rangers make the right decision to loan out Munn
Loaning out Munn is a strategic move by Rangers to foster his development, as limited first-team opportunities behind Jack Butland and Liam Kelly hinder his growth.
His single clean sheet in one Rangers appearance and seven games for the B team show promise but highlight his need for regular senior football.
A loan to the Scottish Championship, similar to Robby McCrorie’s path, would provide crucial game time.
Over the next two years, the Northern Ireland Under-19s international must focus on commanding his area, improving distribution and maintaining consistency in high-pressure matches.
Enhancing his shot-stopping and decision-making, as seen in his youth international displays, will be key.
By accumulating 50-60 senior appearances and minimising errors, Munn can position himself to challenge for Gers’ number one spot by 2027.
It remains to be seen how he fares in the second tier and whether or not there is top-flight loan interest next season.
