Rangers need financial agreement as ‘Cifuentes wants Conor Coady to stay’
Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes could potentially affect Rangers in their bid to sign Conor Coady this transfer window.
The former QPR boss has taken over the Foxes after their relegation from the Premier League and will be looking to get back into the top flight soon.
Coady has emerged as a target at Ibrox, but the deal has taken longer than expected as the chiefs at the King Power Stadium looked for a new head coach.
Cifuentes is now working with the Leicester defender whom the Glaswegian outfit have been pursuing, and that may have a massive impact on their transfer plans.

Coady on big wages as Rangers work on transfer
Something will have to give in the Gers’ pursuit of Coady due to the finances involved, David Friel says.
The Scottish SunSport journalist believes the Light Blues will have to come to some sort of financial agreement to sign the English centre-back, who’s on big wages away from Ibrox.
Friel feels that regarding Cifuentes, the Spanish manager could potentially want to keep the 32-year-old defender due to his experience.

The journalist wrote in The Scottish Sun (22 July): “If you’re Cifuentes, you’d want a guy like Coady, guys that have been over the course and distance.
“I think for Coady to come to Rangers, there’s going to have to be some financial agreement. He’s on big wages, he’s still under contract, so somewhere down the line, something’s got to give. It’s a deal Rangers have been working on, but who knows whether it’ll happen or not.”

Russell Martin should shift focus from Coady transfer
Despite the apparent confidence that Coady would be at Ibrox ahead of next season for several weeks now, the fact that it hasn’t happened suggests there might be a chance a deal has fallen through.
The Gers have already made several additions to their backline with Max Aarons, Emmanuel Fernandez and Nasser Djiga.
Russell Martin also has John Souttar at his disposal ahead of the Panathinaikos fixtures in the Champions League qualifiers after concerns over the centre-back’s fitness as he underwent surgery.
Rangers should consider moving on from Coady if a potential deal isn’t progressing and instead focus on bolstering their attack.
While Djeidi Gassama’s arrival is encouraging, the Light Blues could arguably do with more quality up front.
Add to that the prospect of losing Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers this summer, Kevin Thelwell should start focusing on the other end of the pitch after several defensive arrivals.
