Owen Beck medical booked as ‘Rangers push hard for £7m transfer hijack’

Liverpool defender Owen Beck could undergo his medical soon amid interest from Rangers this transfer window.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers but struggled for game time in the later stages of the season.

Beck is now wanted at Ibrox, with the Gers ready to offer £7m for his services from the Reds.

Russell Martin has played Max Aarons at left-back during pre-season, suggesting he doesn’t trust Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz, but a candidate to possibly replace them is set to move elsewhere.

Derby County medical set for Beck amid Rangers transfer interest in Liverpool youngster

Derby County are about to sign Beck on loan from Liverpool, according to John Percy.

The Telegraph journalist revealed on X (21 July) that the Championship outfit have agreed a deal with the Reds for the Welsh defender, and he’s expected to undergo his medical later this week.

John Eustace signed the 22-year-old at Blackburn but left midway through the season to join the Rams, and the left-back is very keen to play under him once again.

With Beck’s medical seemingly booked, it looks like the Gers may have to push hard to hijack a deal for the youngster at Ibrox.

Martin doesn’t seem to want Yilmaz at the Light Blues, with his squad number given to Aarons, and the Turkey international’s exit wouldn’t be surprising this summer.

Jefte showed glimpses of his talent last season, but fans were often left frustrated with the Brazilian defender’s lack of awareness at the back.

Martin to stick with Aarons as left-back at Ibrox

James Tavernier continues to be a key player at Ibrox despite the managerial change, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him keep his place in the starting lineup.

Aarons has played at left-back a few times during his career, and Martin may stick with him in that position at Rangers.

The Scottish manager has a tough test against Panathinaikos at Ibrox on Tuesday (22 July), and it will be interesting to see how the Gers set up.

With Beck’s transfer seemingly unrealistic, only time will tell whether the Glaswegian outfit will pursue an alternative target.
