‘Danilo finished at Rangers’ as Russell Martin shares double new transfer update

Danilo’s career at Rangers seems to have taken an upturn this summer as Russell Martin prepares for the new campaign.

Martin is still implementing his style of play and bringing his preferred players to Ibrox, but some of his current batch of players look to be surprising him in pre-season.

Danilo is one of those. The striker seems to have benefited during pre-season, with Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane largely absent due to their own issues.

The pair have been linked with a move away this summer, but the latest from Martin could have major consequences for Danilo.

Dessers and Igamane could play together says Martin

Martin has been delighted to have the Igamane and Dessers included in training with Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos fast approaching.

Both strikers have had their pre-season disrupted so far, with Nigerian forward Dessers picking up an injury problem, while there have been visa issues for Igamane.

They have now been given the boost that they could play together next season.

Speaking to Rangers TV, Martin said: “They are both going to be ready to help us, which is really important.

“We’re going to try and work out ways for them to play together at times. It might be one, it might be both, and it’s up to us to work out what they can do and what they’re comfortable doing.”

While Martin’s comments will make Gers fans more hopeful, they could stifle Danilo’s progression this summer.

Danilo could now leave Ibrox this summer

Despite looking set to start Rangers’ qualifier, Danilo could still leave Ibrox this summer.

Supporters were hopeful that the striker would make an immediate impact when he arrived in 2023, but two seasons on, it feels like now or never for the Brazilian to show what he is capable of.

Danilo looks to be working hard over the summer, and the forward could still put a stop to any plans that Martin might have of recruiting or replacing him.

After a positive start in pre-season games, it is now time for the South American to prove it on the biggest stage, or the consequences may be massive.

Goals against Dunfermline, Barnsley and Hamilton are a good start, but he must do exactly the same against Panathinaikos.
