Clinton Nsiala picks favourite move as Anderlecht ready new Rangers transfer

Clinton Nsiala is not in Rangers’ manager Russell Martin’s plans this season.

The French defender featured 11 times in the Scottish Premiership in his debut campaign at Ibrox but could not force his way into the first team regularly.

Martin admitted after the 1-1 draw with Club Brugge that the ex-AC Milan ace will be allowed to leave this summer, with a loan deal potentially on the cards.

The 21-year-old needs to be playing consistently, and he will not get that if he stays in Govan.

Anderlecht enter race for Rangers star Nsiala

Nsiala looks set to leave Rangers in order to help his development, as he is not going to get a chance under Martin at the moment.

Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri (19 July) claimed that Anderlecht have entered the race for the young Gers star.

He states that the Jupiler Pro League is the player’s favourite destination, with the likes of Zulte-Waregem & KV Mechelen also keen.

Rangers should not sell Nsiala

Nsiala needs game time, so he can grow into a top-quality player, but the Light Blues should not entertain a permanent exit.

With the right development, he could become a great defender and they may end up regretting their decision if they sell him.

There is no route into the first team right now, with the likes of Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez joining, and John Souttar already in the squad.

The Gers are also pursuing Conor Coady, so that would further limit Nsiala’s chances of playing, if he were signed.

However, there very well could be in the future, player development is not linear, the Bears should not give up on the former France Under-16’s defender.

The new majority owners, the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh are known for making smart decisions, so surely they will not rush into any reckless decisions that could harm the Gers in the long run.

The young ace has bags of potential, a loan move is the best outcome right now, so he can play senior football on a weekly basis and come back to Auchenhowie raring to go next summer.
