Rangers to pay seven-figure sum as ‘Conor Coady transfer will happen’
Rangers are expected to sign Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady for Russell Martin this transfer window.
The Gers have already bolstered their backline with the permanent arrival of Emmanuel Fernandez from Peterborough United and Nasser Djiga’s loan move from Wolves.
Kevin Thelwell wants to give the Scottish manager further options in defence, with Conor Coady a concrete target at Ibrox.
While supporters will certainly be getting anxious due to the time it’s taking to sign the Englishman at the Glaswegian outfit, a positive update has emerged.

Coady to cost £2m as Rangers transfer still on cards
Leicester could potentially receive £2million from the Gers for Coady, Keith Jackson says.
The Daily Record journalist believes the Light Blues will have to pay a seven-figure sum to secure the 32-year-old’s services at Ibrox.
Jackson claims that sources close to the England international expect the defender to eventually sign for the Glaswegian outfit this summer.

Speaking on Hotline Live (17 July), the journalist said: “Yes, there will be a fee because he has got one year left on his contract. Leicester have got financial issues, which are well known.
“They’re trying to shuffle things around, and if they get a fee, that fee will likely be around about the £2m mark.
“I’ve made a couple of enquiries before we came on air, people around it still expect it to happen.”
Martin could have quality defensive options at Ibrox for next season
Martin has included John Souttar in the Gers’ Champions League squad to face Panathinaikos in the qualifier.
The Light Blues will host the Greek outfit on 22 July in the first leg before travelling to the Olympic Stadium in Athens.
While there were doubts around the Scottish centre-back’s availability after he underwent surgery, it looks like the 28-year-old is fit enough to play.
Despite Souttar’s apparent importance at the moment, Rangers could sell him to Trabzonspor in the coming weeks, with the Super Lig outfit reportedly interested in the former Hearts defender.
The Gers could potentially afford to lose the 28-year-old in the ongoing transfer window by replacing him with Coady.
With the Leicester ace joining Martin’s ranks, the ex-Southampton boss will have plenty of options at his disposal.
Souttar’s contract expires next year, and it would make sense to cash in on him, but only time will tell how the situation in G51 unfolds.
