Ferguson ready for ‘top-class Rangers transfer’ as 49ers splash the cash
Rangers are enjoying a spending spree during this summer transfer window.
Russell Martin has recruited seven new stars already, and several more appear destined to arrive soon under the new ownership of the 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh.
The ultimate goal of this transfer activity will be to knock Celtic from their perch at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
However, Derek Ferguson has already shared some early doubts.

Ferguson questions the reliability of Rangers’ summer signings
Former Rangers midfielder Ferguson is aware of the size of the task awaiting Martin and his team this season.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, he questioned whether the signings are of the calibre to get the job done, with more yet to come.
He said: “Some decent players have been brought in. I say decent, but at the end of the day, if you’re going to take the title from Celtic, then you need to be looking at a better class of footballer coming in.
“That’s going to be an issue when it comes to finances. There’s a few youngsters coming in and you just don’t know how they’re going to handle the atmosphere.
“A marquee signing, i.e an experienced player, can handle that, whereas the youngsters that we know little about may not.
“So, on paper, it looks like a decent window so far, but ‘decent’ isn’t going to win the title back from Celtic. Top-class players are needed, and that’s something I hope to see.”

Ferguson unconvinced that Vardy is the right fit for Rangers
Jamie Vardy is an experienced player who has been linked with a move to Ibrox.
The 38-year-old has won the Premier League and FA Cup with Leicester, and he’s represented England at a major tournament.
However, Ferguson remains unconvinced that he’ll be a good fit in the Rangers team.

He said: “The way Rangers play, most of the time they are up against sides that sit in with a low block and that doesn’t suit Vardy.
“He’s clearly still a very good player, but I wouldn’t say he’s a player Rangers really, not at the moment.
“When a name like Vardy gets thrown out, it’s easy for fans to get excited, but it’s a no from me.”
Conor Coady is another more experienced player being targeted by Rangers, but there is still no sign of this deal progressing. The defender flew out to Leicester City’s training camp in Austria earlier this week.
More signings are coming, it’s just a matter of when.
