‘Ridvan Yilmaz has no future at Ibrox’ after Rangers recruitment error
Ridvan Yilmaz could potentially leave Rangers this transfer window after some underwhelming seasons at Ibrox.
The Turkey international joined the Gers from Besiktas in 2022 but has failed to make a mark in G51 since then.
Yilmaz’s exit from Ibrox is on the cards, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the full-back opt to leave after struggling for regular minutes at the Light Blues.
Russell Martin will arguably rely on Jefte on the left side of defence, and the Glaswegian outfit may have to contend with some of the mistakes they’ve made over the years.

Rangers need to answer for past recruitment errors as Yilmaz transfer on cards
Someone from the Gers will need to hold responsibility for their recruitment errors, with Yilmaz possibly on his way out, Roger Hannah says.
The Scottish Sun journalist believes the 24-year-old defender should’ve played ahead of Jefte at times last season, but wasn’t given the opportunities at Ibrox.
Hannah feels the Turkish defender doesn’t seem to have a future at the Glaswegian outfit, and it will be interesting to see where he goes this summer.

Speaking on The Scottish Sun SPORT (15 July), the journalist said: “I thought there were times where Jefte should’ve been left out of the team and Yilmaz could’ve had a run at his preferred position at left-back. Yilmaz’s best football was at right-back when he was in the team, when James Tavernier was missing, he played his best games there.
“It doesn’t look to me like he has a future there, but you know something, eventually at some stage, someone at Rangers is going to have to put their hands up to previous recruitment errors.”
Martin should keep Yilmaz at Ibrox as backup left-back needed
Yilmaz was linked with a return to Besiktas in the winter transfer window, but the Gers eventually kept him.
While the 24-year-old wasn’t the first name on the team sheet under Philippe Clement or Barry Ferguson, his versatility came in handy.
The Turkey international deputised for Tavernier when the veteran defender was on the sidelines and also played in a more advanced position on the left wing on a few occasions.
Aarons has played at left-back for Rangers during the recent pre-season matches, but only time will tell what Martin will decide to do against Panathinaikos.
The Gers face the Greek outfit in the Champions League qualifier over two legs on 22 July and 30 July.
Jefte has shown glimpses of his talent at the Light Blues but arguably needs more competition in the squad, which Yilmaz could provide.
The future of the Turkish national in G51 will be worth keeping an eye on as talks of an exit intensify.
