Rangers respond after £6.5m+ transfer bid for Mohamed Diomande

Mohamed Diomande is attracting interest away from Ibrox this transfer window, and a bid has been made for the Rangers midfielder.

The Ivory Coast international was one of the Gers’ standout performers in a rather underwhelming season in G51.

It isn’t surprising to see Diomande being linked with a move away from Ibrox after his impressive campaign with the Light Blues.

Russell Martin won’t want to lose the ex-Nordsaelland star, and the Glaswegian outfit have responded after receiving an offer.

Diomande not for sale as Besiktas make contact for transfer

Diomande is not for sale at the Gers as Besiktas offered over £6.5million, according to Fanatik.

The news outlet reports (16 July) that the Super Lig outfit made contact with the Light Blues to discuss terms for the 23-year-old’s move from Ibrox.

It’s been claimed that the Turkish club are interested in the midfielder, and negotiations regarding a potential deal are still ongoing.

Besiktas want to add the Ivorian star to their ranks after signing Orkun Kokcu from Benfica, but it remains to be seen whether the Bears will budge from their stance.

Martin should block Diomande transfer exit from Ibrox

Diomande’s importance at Ibrox is evident after his displays in the previous campaign, and it wouldn’t make sense to sell him just yet.

The 23-year-old has shown a lot of potential, and the Gers could potentially get more money for him next summer if the midfielder continues on his likely trajectory.

While the Light Blues should improve their player trading model, the Ivory Coast international still has three years left on his contract, and Besiktas’ offer arguably isn’t enticing.

Rangers could also lose Nico Raskin this summer, making the continuity of someone like Diomande even more critical for Martin.

The Scottish manager will be expected to compete with Celtic next season, but can’t do so realistically if the Glaswegian outfit sell most of their best players.

Ideally, the Light Blues should look to keep the former Nordsaelland star for another year before considering proposals for his exit.
