Nico Raskin’s future looks certain after what Russell Martin just said
Nico Raskin has been linked with a move away from Rangers for most of the summer.
The Belgian midfielder has been fantastic in a Rangers shirt, but it has been suggested that the club would cash in on him to fund other signings.
He had been linked with a big-money move to Wolves, while other clubs on the continent were believed to be interested.
Russell Martin hadn’t addressed these rumours, leading to further speculation about Raskin being sold.
However, the Rangers boss has now spoken out about Raskin, and his words have given away a strong hint about the player’s future.

Martin heaps praise on Raskin and shares his plans to use him this season
Martin has already made several signings this season, including several midfielders. As exciting as this has been for Rangers fans, the question remained whether these players were being recruited to replace Raskin.
However, in an interview shared by the Heart & Hand podcast, Martin heaped praise on his player and even shared how he planned to use him next season.
He said: “We can get more end product out of Nico by doing a bit less.
“He has big character, he wants to take the ball but I think he’s had to do a lot in the previous season, whereas now we’re going to ask him to do a bit less, and when he does have to stuff, to do it with real quality, intensity and aggression.
“So, hopefully, we’ll be able to bring out a more impactful Nico.”
Of course, these quotes don’t mean that Raskin is destined to be a Rangers player next season. If a significant bid came in, Martin’s head could be turned.
However, it does look like the Rangers boss wants the Belgian to be part of his starting XI next season.
Raskin can deliver more in a Rangers shirt
Martin made some good points about the expectations of Raskin.
At times, when things weren’t going Rangers’ way, it did look like he was trying to win the game all by himself.
It’s great that he’s the sort of character who is willing to step up and try to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
At the same time, that’s a lot to ask of a player who only turned 24 this year.

It has been said that Rangers could get a huge windfall by selling Raskin now.
However, it looks like Martin wants to build a team around the Belgian, surrounding him with better players. That will allow his star to shine even brighter. Then, if they have to, they can sell him for an even bigger fee later on.
If that is the plan for Raskin, Rangers fans will hope he at least leaves with an SPL winners’ medal around his neck.
