John Souttar exit plan mooted as transfer interest at Rangers confirmed
Rangers have a massive decision to make with John Souttar at Ibrox this transfer window.
The ex-Hearts defender has given Russell Martin a headache already ahead of the Gers facing Panathinaikos after deciding to delay his surgery.
Trabzonspor are now interested in Souttar, and the Turkish outfit’s prospect of signing the centre-back in the coming weeks seems legitimate.
The Glaswegian outfit have made a few additions to their backline recently, and their potential plan for the Scotland international have been mooted.

Rangers should keep Souttar as transfer interest from Turkey confirmed
Souttar is worth keeping at the Gers amid interest in the defender from Turkey, Michael Gannon says.
The Daily Record journalist revealed that while he’s weary of the Turkish media, there is indeed a bit more to the rumours of the 28-year-old centre-back’s possible exit from Ibrox.
Gannon feels that it will be interesting to see what the Light Blues decide to do with the Scottish defender after strengthening their backline in the ongoing transfer window.

Speaking on Hotline Live (13 July), the journalist said: “I’m always a bit weary because the Turkish media, they love a link with players from Celtic and Rangers all the time.
“But there seems to be a bit more in this one with Souttar. It would be interesting. I know Rangers have strengthened that part of the team. But I still think Souttar is worth keeping.”
Souttar sale makes sense at Ibrox this transfer window
Souttar’s current contract at Ibrox expires in June 2026, making this one of the last opportunities the Gers have of cashing in on him.
The Light Blues have lost several players as free agents in recent years, and wouldn’t want to make a similar mistake with the Scotland international.
While the 28-year-old has been a key player for the Glaswegian outfit since signing from Hearts, Martin has been handed some exciting additions in defence.
Rangers have bought Emmanuel Fernandez from Peterborough United, and Nasser Djiga has arrived on loan from Wolves.
The Gers are also working on a deal for Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady, giving the former Southampton manager plenty of options in defence.
Once the Light Blues sign the England international, they will arguably be able to afford losing someone like Souttar.
Unless the Scotsman signs a new contract at Ibrox, selling him would undoubtedly be the sensible thing to do.
