James Tavernier reacts as transfer and investment now announced

James Tavernier faces a pivotal campaign at Rangers next season.

There are questions over the 33-year-old’s future in Govan after Max Aarons was signed on a season-long loan deal.

He needs a good season to ensure that he remains in Russell Martin‘s plans going forward and retains his place in the squad.

Martin has reassured Tavernier that he is still in his plans at the moment but that could change if he has a poor season.

Tavernier reacts as Carroll announces new club

The Ibrox star and Andy Carroll know each other from their days at Newcastle United before they went on to forge vastly different careers.

The former Liverpool and West Ham forward took to Instagram (13 July) to announce his new move to National League South outfit Dagenham and Redbridge after they were taken over by a consortium from Qatar.

In a shared post with the non-league club, he said: “Let’s get started.”

Tavernier reacted by liking the post from his former teammate in the North East.

Rangers need significant investment this summer

Just like the English side, the Gers need investment of their own from their new majority owners, the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh.

They have gotten off to a great start so far, bringing in the likes of Aarons, Joe Rothwell, Thelo Aasgaard, Emmanuel Fernandez, Lyall Cameron and Nasser Djiga.

However, more signings are needed if they are to catch up with arch-rivals Celtic anytime soon, as they finished 17 points behind in the Scottish Premiership last season and will be on the back foot when it starts again.

Without the required investment, that gap could be increased in the new campaign, but the new American investors have made their impact known so far in a short period of time.

As long as they continue to flex their financial muscles and make sensible decisions, it should be a much better campaign for the Light Blues after a miserable season under Philippe Clement and Barry Ferguson last time out.

There is hope at Rangers for the first time in a long time, and right now, it looks like it will not be dampened anytime soon.
