‘Rangers to accept John Souttar bid’ as concrete transfer interest emerges

Russell Martin could potentially lose John Souttar at Rangers this transfer window after multiple defensive reinforcements at Ibrox.

The 28-year-old has been a key player for the Gers in recent seasons, but it remains to be seen whether he will be available to face Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifier on 22 July after undergoing surgery recently.

Souttar’s current contract at Ibrox expires in 2026, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Light Blues wanting to cash in on him.

The Glaswegian outfit may have an opportunity to sell the Scotland international in the coming weeks as concrete interest has emerged.

Trabzonspor transfer interest in Souttar real, Rangers sale depends on money

Trabzonspor are showing “real” interest in Souttar at the Gers this summer, according to Heart and Hand.

David Edgar, who is the host of the Heart and Hand podcast, claimed on X (13 July) that the Super Lig outfit are indeed looking to sign the centre-back from Ibrox.

When asked whether the Light Blues would be open to the Scottish defender’s exit, the podcast host believes that it depends on the money offered.

Edgar feels that while reports from Turkey are often unreliable, they are true in this instance, but whether a bid has been made for the centre-back remains to be seen.

Souttar transfer possible due to contract situation at Ibrox

Souttar’s sale at Ibrox would make sense for the Gers if he doesn’t sign a new deal in G51.

Unless the Light Blues can secure his future, there’s no point in possibly losing him as a free agent in a year’s time.

The Glaswegian outfit have already addressed their defensive frailties from last season by making multiple additions to their backline.

Rangers have signed Emmanuel Fernandez from Peterborough United, and Nasser Djiga has arrived on loan from Wolves, not long after completing a £10million move to the Molineux.

Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady has also been linked with a switch to Ibrox this summer, and his arrival could potentially give Martin enough options to open doors for a departure.

Souttar has arguably been the Gers’ best centre-back in recent seasons, but his consistent fitness issues have often frustrated fans.

The Scotsman’s future in G51 will certainly be one to watch closely in the coming weeks.
