Sky Sports share Dessers and Igamane update as pair absent from Rangers training
Rangers could sell some of their key players this summer as part of a wider squad rebuild, and speculation is growing over two players.
Strikers Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane have both been linked with moves away, and the pair were absent from the first pre-season game against Club Brugge.
Rangers need to add more attacking firepower to their squad, but they could lose their two main strikers as interest grows in both centre-forwards.
Russell Martin has taken the squad on a training camp to St George’s Park, and there has now been an update on both forwards.

Dessers and Igamane absences explained
Rangers are set to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday, July 12, but both Dessers and Igamane were absent from training ahead of the game.
This has now been explained, as both are set to train later on in the day, with this main session focused on the players who are set to feature in the friendly.
Speaking on Sky Sports (July 11, 11.14am), reporter Luke Shanley was at St George’s Park and explained the situation.
“They have a closed-door friendly here tomorrow too, and for the players that are out there, it’s mainly the guys that are going to be involved in that game,” Shanley explained.

“There is no Cyriel Dessers out there, there is no Hamza Igamane, and of course, there has been speculation about those two players, but I’m told it’s more the concentration on the players in this training session, about who will be playing in the game tomorrow.
“The two that I mentioned will be training later in the afternoon session, in double sessions at this time of the season.”

Rangers need to resolve striker situations quickly
While Dessers is a divisive figure among the Rangers fanbase, he ended last season as the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership, and he would need to be replaced if he does leave.
Igamane looks likely to depart given interest from Lille, and while Rangers are set to profit handsomely, they will be left very short upfront.
Martin will face Champions League qualifiers at the end of the month, and he will need a fit and firing striker ready to play in those games.
While Dessers and Igamane face uncertainty and do not play, they will not gain any match sharpness ahead of those games, and the situation needs to be resolved as quickly as possible.
