Gassama preferred destination shared amid Rangers transfer hold-up reports

Djeidi Gassama looked destined to be the next new arrival at Rangers.

The Sheffield Wednesday winger’s transfer to Ibrox looked as good as completed, with just the final details needing to be wrapped up.

However, the move has been held up, with some media sources in England suggesting Gassama’s transfer could collapse.

With some Rangers fans growing concerned about the transfer, David Edgar has shared some information about the latest updates.

Gassama to Rangers transfer not dead just yet

Edgar stated that Gassama still wants to move to Rangers.

After being asked for an update on the news via X on Friday (11 July), Edgar said: “Nothing’s done till it’s done.

“Club still working on a deal. Player wants move.”

Edgar founded the ‘Heart & Hand’ podcast which has become a prominent source of news and analysis for Rangers fans. He has developed a reputation for being mostly accurate about behind-the-scenes news at Ibrox.

Rangers have started brightly in this summer’s transfer window

Rangers were always expected to indulge in a spending spree following the takeover by 49ers Enterprises.

It took a while to get going, but the transfer activity has sped up dramatically in July.

Now, it’s starting to look like Russell Martin and his team will have a great chance of knocking Celtic off their perch in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Gassama would be an exciting addition to the squad if the deal is finalised.

The Mauritian-born winger has lightning pace and isn’t afraid to take on his defender. What’s more, he has a great eye for goal and is capable of bagging screamers from outside the box.

He notched eight goals for Wednesday last season. Take a look at his wondergoal in the Steel City derby if you want to get excited about his move.

Gassama is 22 years old, so he has plenty of time to improve under the tutelage of Martin. It’s believed that Rangers will pay somewhere within the region of £2.5million for him. They’ll want to get the deal done before they take on Panathinaikos in their Champions League qualifying tie later in July.
