Chansiri holds up Gassama to Rangers transfer amid Sheffield Wednesday sale news
Rangers seem to have hit a stumbling block in their attempts to sign Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Djeidi Gassama.
Wednesday are in turmoil, with owner Dejphon Chansiri failing to pay his players on time multiple times this summer.
Russell Martin’s side have been looking to take advantage of their fragile situation, but in an ever-changing football market, a move for Gassama seems to have stalled.

Chansiri yet to sign off on Gassama transfer
The two teams have already agreed on the transfer of Gassama, but Rangers have now been left in limbo over whether the deal will go through.
Gassama has already finalised his personal agreement with the Light Blues, and the 21-year-old has undergone and passed a medical, bidding farewell to his Wednesday teammates, too.
Winger Gassama has also been told not to train with the Owls and has even met with the Gers head coach and potential teammates, but a move has now stalled.
According to The Star (11 July), Sheffield Wednesday owner Chansiri is the only one yet to sign off on the deal.
With the future of the Sheffield club currently unknown, Owls manager Danny Rohl has agreed to return to the club despite taking an extended break.
It’s reported that Rohl is returning as a result of advancements in the potential takeover of Sheffield Wednesday.
It’s still unknown as to why Chansiri has yet to approve the sale of Gassama, but the move could be stalling due to potential new owners not wanting to acquire a dwindling squad.

Gassama to replace Vaclav Cerny if deal goes through
Vaclav Cerny was a crucial figure for the Light Blues last season, but a return to Rangers on a permanent deal now seems unlikely

Gassama’s move stalling is a worry for the Light Blues with departures expected from Gers’ strike force.
Cyriel Dessers could be set to leave to club as he entertains a move to AEK in Greece, despite Martin’s side not wanting to sell the striker.
