Jackson reacts as Hagi linked with surprise Rangers return already
Ianis Hagi is looking for a new club after leaving Ibrox this summer as the former Rangers midfielder’s contract expired
Philippe Clement gave the Romania international a second chance midway through last season, and he took his opportunities.
While some wanted to see Hagi stay at Ibrox after putting in the work at Auchehowie and forcing his way back into the first team, Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises had different plans.
Now, there’s talk of the 26-year-old possibly returning to the Glaswegian outfit in the coming weeks, as he remains a free agent.

Hagi return transfer to Rangers doubtful as different profile of attacking targets identified
Keith Jackson believes Hagi’s potential return to the Gers this summer is doubtful.
The Daily Record journalist feels the Light Blues are looking at a different profile of players as they look to bolster Russell Martin’s options at Ibrox.
Jackson has dismissed talks of the Romanian playmaker’s return to G51, as the Glaswegian outfit seem to be building a more physical team.

Speaking on Hotline Live (9 July), the journalist said: “Where I think Hagi would maybe struggle and why I think it’s doubtful… it seems to me Rangers are really gearing up to be a physical side.
“In terms of up front, it looks like speed is going to be the key. All the players, when you look at their attributes, the guys that are getting mentioned, that appear to be Martin’s wishlist, there’s pace all over it.”
Martin needs Hagi transfer replacement at Ibrox
Sheffield Wednesday forward Djeidi Gassama seems to be close to signing for the Gers in the ongoing transfer window as Kevin Thelwell looks for attacking reinforcements.
Josh Windass’ return to Ibrox from the Owls has also been suggested, but it remains to be seen whether there’s anything to those rumours.
Southampton forward Samuel Edozie is another player being mentioned as the Scottish manager eyes a reunion at the Light Blues.
Rangers also have Hull City forward Abu Kamara on their radar, showcasing the profile of attackers the recruitment department want to bring to Ibrox.
Supporters were happy to see Hagi show glimpses of his talent in the previous campaign after his injury struggles, but it felt like the right time to let him leave.
With a new manager coming in with a clearly different philosophy, maybe the Glaswegian outfit made the right decision not to extend his contract.
