Harry Toffolo ‘set to clear medical’ as Rangers eye left-back transfer

Rangers are keen on signing a new left-back this summer and have been linked with former Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has gauged his game time and fitness history ahead of a potential transfer in this window.

The 29-year-old is available on a free transfer as he was recently released by Forest.

Harry Toffolo expected to clear pre-transfer medical

Despite his lack of regular game time last season, Toffolo is not expected to face issues with his medical, according to Dr Brar.

Toffolo wants to join Rangers after his contract at the City Ground ran out, with the club also keen on a new left-back. (Scottish Sun, 7 June)

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, exclusively told Ibrox News: “He’s not suffered significant injuries in recent seasons, which is always impressive.

“I see him facing no issues in clearing his medical.

“His game time last season was far from ideal, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be at a higher risk of injury if he plays regularly.”

Ridvan Yilmaz expected to leave if Toffolo joins Rangers

If Toffolo joins Rangers, it would likely signal the departure of Ridvan Yilmaz.

The 29-year-old left-back, who was recently released by Nottingham Forest, has been linked with Gers.

The Ibrox outfit currently have Yilmaz and Jefte as left-back options, but the former has been persistently linked with a return to Turkey, with clubs like Galatasaray and Besiktas showing interest.

Toffolo’s experience in the Premier League and English Championship makes him a viable replacement, offering the club depth and reliability.

With Yilmaz’s injury history and inconsistent form, coupled with Rangers’ need for squad stability ahead of the Champions League, his exit seems probable if Toffolo is signed, as the club would avoid carrying three left-backs.
