Rangers to ‘beat Man United to Vardy transfer’ after private reveal
Jamie Vardy is a name that refuses to go away at Rangers this summer.
After already investing heavily in midfield and defence ahead of Russell Martin’s first season in charge, attacking reinforcements are now the priority at Ibrox.
Max Aarons and Joe Rothwell will both bring valuable Premier League experience to Martin’s squad, with the former Leicester star possibly next in line.
Vardy has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers, and could make the switch north as a high-profile free agent for the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh.
It won’t be straightforward, though.

Vardy welcomed at Ibrox behind the scenes
Vardy would instantly become a hero in Glasgow, with his no-nonsense approach exactly what is needed at this moment in time at Auchenhowie.
Writing for the Scottish Daily Mail (9 July, pg 65), Callum Crowe shared that privately, Rangers are not denying they want the Leicester City legend.
Martin did not shoot down the possibility of signing the 38-year-old on a free transfer when asked about the potential move, following the 2-2 draw with Club Brugge.
The former England international looked set to join Genoa in Italy before manager Patrick Vieira poured cold water on the transfer, reigniting his links to Rangers.
Manchester United are among those teams south of the border vying for his signature, with Crowe writing: “Privately, Rangers are not denying they have an interest in the former Leicester City star and Premier League winner.
“The veteran forward is also on the radar of Manchester United and has various other options on the table from clubs in England.”

Vardy deal would be a statement of intent from Rangers
Bringing Vardy to G51 on a free transfer whilst banking £15million from the sale of Hamza Igamane could be a very shrewd bit of business.
Naturally, at 38, he has lost a step when compared to the days he was winning the Premier League’s golden boot, but this doesn’t mean he still couldn’t significantly contribute to a Rangers title charge.
Far from it.
Last season, in a struggling Leicester side that was ultimately relegated from England’s top-flight, he netted nine goals.
The quality of the Rangers’ squad, along with Martin’s philosophy, means they will likely have the bulk of possession in most of their games next season.
Vardy would be allowed to focus purely on getting in goalscoring positions, with the veteran forward proving he is still capable of performing at the highest level.
